Description

Hietala Trädgård AB is a renowned horticultural company located in Korva, in the municipality of Övertorneå (Sweden), and is offered for sale. The company has a rich history dating back to 1927 and has developed into a strong and locally well-known name in the production of vegetable and ornamental crops.

The current owners place great value on the company, the brand, and local production continuing and further developing under new ownership. There is clear potential to further strengthen and expand the existing activities.

Location and accessibility

Korva is located about 10 kilometers north of Övertorneå, along road 99, which runs parallel to the Torne River, forming the natural border with Finland. Finland is easily accessible via the bridge at Ylitornio – Aavasaksa. This offers direct access to the Finnish market and additional purchasing opportunities. All usual public facilities are available in the municipality.

Current business activities

The current production consists of:

  • Greenhouse cultivation of cucumbers and tomatoes, including cherry tomatoes
  • Seedling and plant sales, including bedding and ornamental plants
  • Outdoor cultivation of vegetables

The sale does not include arable land, but approximately 5 hectares of nearby farmland can be rented for outdoor cultivation. The products are sold both on a large scale and through their own farm shop, conveniently located directly on road 99 and equipped with ample parking.

Organization and management

The company is incorporated as a private limited company and is currently managed by Ulric and Hans Hietala, both trained horticulturists at SLU. They handle both daily and strategic management.
In addition, Inga Hietala is responsible for seedling cultivation, plant sales, and the farm shop.

The owners are willing to provide active support and expertise to a new owner during a transition period.

Sweden

Sweden, located in Northern Europe, covers an area of approximately 450,000 square kilometers, making it the fifth-largest country in Europe. Sweden has one of the lowest population densities in Europe, with an average of around 25 inhabitants per square kilometer. This is due to the vast areas of forests, lakes, and mountains that characterize the country.

The terrain in Sweden varies significantly, ranging from fertile farmlands in the south to rocky and mountainous regions in the north. About 69% of Sweden’s land area is covered by forests, playing a crucial role in the country’s economy and ecology.

The capital of Sweden is Stockholm, a vibrant city located on the country’s east coast, spread across fourteen islands. Stockholm is known for its historical charm, stunning architecture, and cultural diversity and serves as the political, economic, and cultural hub of Sweden.

Overall, Sweden is characterised by its expansive landscapes, rich natural resources, and a high standard of living, making it an attractive destination for both residents and visitors.
